People who have not yet been saved look at Christians and see how Christians act before they decide to follow Jesus Christ or not. They decipher in their minds if they want to believe what we believe in and if they want to take up their own cross as well. Even saved Christians look at their fellow Christian friends to see who exactly they are surrounded by from time to time. We all do it. Christan or not. If you’re not questioning whats around you, you’re doing something wrong.
If you call yourself a Christan and pour your heart out to God, practice and read His word daily would you be mad if you saw someone else who calls themselves a Christan making very bad ungodly decisions? We like to watch the people around us to see if they are following the Gospel and living our Christan lives, especially when they say they are. It’s good to have good examples around you so you can learn how to be a good example for others. I for one try to hold my self to high standards. However, I’m not perfect, I’m human.
Nobody is perfect but one person and that is Jesus Christ. If I saw someone acting unchristian like calling themselves a Christan it would make me question them. I can say I’m Christan but if I’m not acting like it does that still make me Christan? If another person calls them self a Christan but doesn’t act like it does that still make them a Christan?
Yes, we all mess up from time to time. We all make mistakes and thats why we need God so when we do make those mistakes we can ask God to help us not to make those mistakes again. He is a loving forgiving God. That doesn’t man to go out and do whatever you want when you want. From time to time we will mess up and when we are truly sorry God will be there to help us repent for when we have done something wrong.
Joyce Meyer said it really well in her deovtional today. She said “He’s asking you to stop merely telling people Jesus loves them, and start being Jesus to them. When you’re willing to get out there and shine, eventually His light will swallow up the darkness in your sphere of influence. The best way to show the love of Christ is to teach by example. People in the world want to see Christians who live good, clean lives. They want to be able to trust someone. And as believers, it’s our job to pass along the principles of godly living and the love of Jesus. The best way to “teach what is fitting” is to be a shining example of a victorious Christian.”
Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Prayer Starter: Lord, please help me today transform my mind to prove the will of God is good, acceptable and perfect. Amen.
