Ever since I was very young I was taught that when someone gives you a correction to take it in, listen and then fix it the first time. Recently, I was give a correction by someone that was ungodly. I was taken back by the correction they had given me and I didn’t really know how to respond at first. I quickly informed the person that I was a Christan and I wasn’t going to take their advice.
They soon became very angry with my response and I had to end the conversation. Prior months before the conversation had taken place this person did inform me that they were not saved. They had in fact rejected God. They are very devoted and successful in their line of work so, when I reached out to them for their professional advice I was hoping we could keep it on a professional, work related level. I was not expecting the conversation to go so south.
I quickly learned that we as Christians need to be listening to advice from God. We need to go to our bibles, pray and talk to fellow Christians among us for advice and wisdom no matter what the topic may be. It’s important to listen and talk to others who aren’t saved as well. However, make sure that when we are looking for advice and wisdom from unsaved people that when we do decide to accept information in order to make a change in our life. It is from a Godly wholesome place.
Simply meaning, the advice we receive and decide to implement inlines with the word of God. If we want Godly lives we need to put God first and in the center of our lives. We need to grow with Him, mature with Him and walk with Him in every single aspect of our daily lives. We are are the leaves to His branches. We are nothing with out God.
Proverbs 19:20 “Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.”
Prayer Starter: Lord, thank you for giving me Godly wisdom and advice. I pray today that you don’t let others be persuaded into believing something that is not of your will. I pray that you give us the wisdom to decipher right from wrong in your name. Amen.
