Any Christian who is saved will understand what it means when someone talks about their flesh speaking to them. This can be looked at as a time of weakness or a time of self control. God give’s us free choice. Amen to that! He has also given us another gift. This gift is called The Holy Spirit. Its usually quiet, loving and peaceful. This is the voice you want to listen to. The Holy Spirit gives you wisdom, understanding, counsel, knowledge, pity, courage and fear of the Lord.
Have you ever been tempted to do something you know you shouldn’t do? Or say something you know you shouldn’t say? Then after have you said to yourself “oh no, I shouldn’t do or say that?” I for one have and this is what is known by your flesh talking to you. Your flesh is the one telling you to say or do that certain thing you know very well you shouldn’t do or say.
“2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” With the Holy Spirit inside of us, we are able to possess self-control and demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit. As a result, we can live in a way that is honorable to God.”
The fruit of the spirit helps us draw closer to God and abide in His perfect love. It’s the power to become more Christian like. It’s love and exclusive affection. The Holy Spirit lives inside our heart and gives us the ability to have self control. Which, in return demonstrate’s the fruits of the spirit. We want to live in a way that honors God, with self control. What’s something you can work on today that will be honorable to God?
Prayer Starter: God, please give me the strength to have self control. I’m grateful for the Holy Spirit and the fruit’s of the spirit. Please help me today to listen more to the Holy Spirit and become more Christian like. Amen.
