I love how Job 6:24 starts out with Job asking God to give him a job. He wants to learn how to make his life better by asking God how to do exactly that. Sometimes, we have to be careful for what we pray for. Joyce Meyer gives a great example about her husband praying too God to give him a wife that he could help before he met Joyce. Of course Joyce was joking around about the the way she said it but she said “then, all of a sudden I came along.”
She spoke about how she needed a lot of help in the beginning of their marriage. She admits there was truth behind what she said. She spoke about being abused growing up and having a difficult childhood that led her into her adult years to have more trouble before she met her husband. God does break these chains of abuse, addiction and whatever else may be holding you back. In order for God to do this and work though us we must first be quiet and listen to Him. He will always guide us back to his plan and will for our life.
Matthew 18:12 sums up what I just said really well. “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?” When we ask God for His help He will help us. We must also keep in mind that He will show us our mistakes as well in the process. When God shows us our mistakes it’s our job to then repent. We must turn away from what we were doing before in order to get on His perfect plan for our life.
The road less traveled on is never easy but always worth it in the end. If it was easy everyone would do it. Once we take the time to sit down and listen to God we need to humbly submit to Him. That means we aren’t going to argue or bargin with God after we have asked Him to help us and He gives us the answer.
Job 6:24 “Teach me, and I will be silent; make me understand how I have gone astray.”
Prayer Starter: Lord, please help me today be silent. Help me to understand how I have gone astray and show me how to get on the path you have mapped out for me if I’m not already following it. Thank you for your guidance, love and support. Amen.
