Today I’ll be talking about a prayer from Joshua that occurred when he was in the midst of a battle. We have to remember that God can do whatever He wants whenever He wants. He is the creator of everything, the sun, moon, earth and Heavan. Everything! He also gives us perception, how we perceive one another. Sometimes things may feel like they are taking longer than they really are.
Sometimes the time goes by so quick we don’t know where the day went! This verse in Joshua was tricky for me at first to understand because everytime my brain wanted to go straight to science in regards to all the planets, sun, moon and earth stoping. The reality is science didn’t give Joshua the strength to make the sun, moon, earth and Heavan stop. God did.
As we read further we see that Joshua was wishing ill on his enemy’s. Joshua and the Israelites got tricked into making a deal with the Gibeon’s.
God is telling the Israelites to not be afraid and do not wish ill on your enemy’s. This was a lesson they had to learn in the valley of the battle in order to get to the top of the hill. God is a loving, faithful, hopeful, kind God. Joshua and the Isrealites traveled all day and all night. Then, Joshua stretched out his arm by Gods command when the time was right. God gave Joshua the power to make this happen.
Joshua 10:13 “And the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, until the nation took vengeance on their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jashar? The sun stopped in the midst of heaven and did not hurry to set for about a whole day.”
Prayer Starter: Lord, thank you for giving us power through you to make the sun stand still and the moon stop in the midst of Heavan just faith in you alone in your perfect timing. I pray that you let everyone today see how powerful you are and how much you truly can work in their life. Amen.
