2 Timmothy 1-2

I came across 2 Timothy 1-2 a couple weeks ago and it really spoke to me. I didn’t understand why but it did. When God placed it on my heart to focus on courage the verse came up again. “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

When we have a spirit that accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior we have a Godly spirit. When we reject Him as out Lord and Savior we have an antichrist spirit. The Bible warns us very specifically and clearly. Just read 1 John 4. It is right there in white and black ink.

A spirit of fear is very unpleasant, emotional in a bad way, painful and even dangerous. None of these are fruits of the spirit or from God. They are from satan and satan is fallen. He wants us to feel threatened and afraid all the time if it was up to him.

A spirit of power however, is from God. This gives us consciousness, peace, contentment, confidence and hope! Its loving energy in you, around you and through you! It makes you feel good, relaxed and even positive!

God also gives us a spirit of love. This helps us find meaning and purpose in our lives! They can even serve different purposes! God put us on earth to serve others. Some purposes are to help other people along the way. While others are meant to teach us lessons.

2 Timmothy 1-2 lastly tells us God gives us a spirit of self control. This helps us restrain from temptation. It to help us not conform to this world. It guides our decisions, correlates with how we see fruits in our life and others. Finally, it gives us forbearance and patience.

Prayer Starter: Lord, thank you for giving me a spirit not of fear but of power, love and self control. I believe that you died on the cross for me to forgive me of my sinned. You are my Lord and Savior. Amen.
