Power, Love and Self Control

A verse really stood out to me this morning. It is 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God didn’t give us a Spirit of fear but of power, love and self control.”

I believe this verse is telling us that when you start to feel anxious or depressed. These feelings are not coming from God. It’s coming from an attack that Satan is behind. Since we are children of God and not of Satan those feelings aren’t meant for us. I figured if it’s not in Gods will for me to have then why pursue it? (Thanks God)! God gives us outs in every situation in life. Sometimes we see it and sometimes we don’t but there is always an out because he loves us and want’s the best for us.

The glory about free will is that it is given to us by God. He want’s us to make our own decisions. This is also how we begin our journey with the walk in Christ. We get to decide how we think, react to certain situation’s and treat others. Then on top of that, God gives us an opportunity to pray and talk it over with Him to see what He thinks. 2 Timothy 1:7 is saying not only is God, Almighty Jehovah giving us power… We get power from an omnizficiant, omnipotent, omnipresent God. The creator of our universe. How crazy is that??

THEN the verse continues and says.. He ALSO given us love and self control. He never gives us too much we can’t handle and I’m very grateful for that. So even when I do feel rushed, anxious, depressed what have you… At least I know that God never gives me too much I can’t handle, He always gives me an out and He has equipped me to get through whatever is happening. 2 Timothy 1:7 says He does this with not only power but love and self control as well. I’m very grateful for that. What are you grateful for today?

Prayer starter: Lord, thank you for giving me a Spirit of power, love and self control. I pray you help others embody this as well today. Amen.
