Confession

In the beginning of the bible we could not talk to God through prayer directly. A priest had to go into a place called the Holy of Holy’s and talk to God for us. The Priest would do multiple rituals for weeks before entering the Holy of Holy’s so he was cleansed. When it came time for him to go into the Holy of Holy’s the people would tie a rope around his waist. They did this so if he died while in the Holy of Holy’s from not conducting the cleansing rituals correctly the people could pull Him out. (Hebrews 9:1-28), (Exodus 30:10), (Hebrews 8:7-13), Psalm 140:1), (Hebrews 9:4).

Now, we have the great gift of being able to talk to God directly through prayer. We can confess our sins and know that He is faithful and righteous to forgive us. In John, He tells us that He will cleanse us from all unrighteousness! (1 John 1-9). I have sinned before in the past and have wrestled with shame because of my sins. Have you ever sinned and carried the burden of shame?

Most people have. The good news is that when we take our sins to God and confess them. He will lift any shame, burden or discouragement we are feeling because of the sin we committed. I know in the past I felt like because of my sin, I was unworthy of God. I almost made the decision to not rekindle my relationship with God because of this unworthy feeling. Looking back not I know I was letting Satan attack my mind and emotions. I learned this was Satans best tactic of misleading believers. The worse part was, I was letting him win. (James 4:7), 1 Peter 5:8-9), (Ephesians 6:11-17), (John 8:44).

Today I choose happiness, freedom, righteous, forgiveness and love. God has fought the battle and won on the cross just like he’s won in my heart. I choose to confess my sins and repent. Don’t let guilt stop you from confessing and repenting. That first step is always the hardest to take but when you do take that leap of faith by trusting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. God will bring you restoration, cleansing and peace through confession. God’s truth set me free. Will you let His truth set you free today?
1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Prayer Starter: Lord, Thank you for setting me free with your truth. I pray that as others read this they will choose to confess their sins to you just as I did. I pray that they see just how faithful, righteous, loving and forgiving you truly are Lord. Amen.
